Government guidelines recommend at least two layers of comfortable, breathable fabric that “form a good fit around the nose and mouth”, so stretchy, double-layered snoods that fit snugly over the nose can be used as face coverings.
There are currently no mandatory standards for face coverings in the UK.
A cross between a scarf and a hood, snoods can be worn around the neck and pulled up to cover your head or face when you need a bit of extra protection from the elements.
